Summary and impressions

This year's NextGen Research Day was held in Lausanne. The participants were motivated pediatricians, senior pediatricians, master students, PhD students, postdocs as well as researchers from other related fields such as pediatric psychology or pediatric nursing from all over Switzerland. For the first time, we invited early- and mid-career professionals from pharma industry to broaden our network and learn from each other.

The NextGen Research Day is an innovative teaching event for young professionals in the field of pediatrics. We offered several workshops: a speed-dating session and express career coaching with experts as well as an engaging discussion on part-time careers and many more. The breaks offered valuable opportunities for exchange between the participants and the experts.

We are pleased that also this year, patient representatives supported two workshops: A general introduction to "Patient and Public Involvement (PPI)" and a more active workshop on communicating with parents. The participants discussed and developed how parents can be approached with a trial proposal, even in emotionally difficult situations. We are very grateful for the contribution by experts of Frühchen & Neokinder Schweiz!

Thanks to our industry sponsors, sanofi-aventis, AbbVie Inc. and Eli Lilly (S.A), as well as Neonat - Stiftung für Neonatologie, we could offer this learning experience for an affordable prize to the next generation of pediatric researchers. We appreciate the financial support very much!
